For over 20 years, our team has provided quality design, construction and maintenance services for leading maritime companies and coastal developers. With headquarters in Fort Lauderdale and projects spanning from Miami to Jacksonville, we understand what it takes to operate on Florida's unique marine environment.

Our founder and CEO ​Ryan James brings both passion and hands-on experience to leading NSM Energy. A native of coastal Texas, Peter essentially grew up on the water in towns bordering Galveston Bay. He gained firsthand knowledge of the maritime industry working construction on the bustling Houston Ship Channel. While pursuing his marine engineering degree at Texas Tech University, Peter gained practical experience through internships at several Texas shipyards. 

   Upon graduation, Peter rapidly earned a reputation for solving complex marine engineering challenges while managing major port and offshore energy projects across the Gulf of Mexico. But he dreamed of bringing his skills to Florida, a state he fell in love with during college Spring Break trips. Ryan took the risk, relocated to Fort Lauderdale and established NSM Energy.
   
   In just five years under Ryan's leadership, NSM Energy has become Florida's trusted marine engineering partner on projects from Pensacola to the Florida Keys. Peter's dedication, work ethic and constant innovation set the tone for the company. 

Working hand-in-hand with Ryan is veteran Project Supervisor Robert Martinez, who brings over 35 years of hands-on experience spanning commercial marine construction, vessel repair and offshore drilling platforms. Robert is a licensed professional engineer in multiple coastal states. His attention to quality control, workplace safety protocols and stellar project management has earned NSM Energy accolades from across the maritime industry. Robert oversees multi-disciplinary engineering and construction teams, coordinating skilled personnel such as welders, fabricators, crane operators, commercial divers, naval architects and more to deliver projects on-time and on-budget. 

From design to completion, NSM Energy has the in-house personnel for comprehensive marine engineering services: 

Design & Engineering: Our licensed engineers and naval architects design customized port facilities, marinas, residential docks, retaining walls and other structures using 3D modeling software to meet local environmental, resilience and aesthetic requirements. We specialize in incorporating sustainable and climate-conscious materials.

Project Management & Construction: NSM Energy self-performs much of the construction work central to maritime projects, from pile driving and concrete reinforcement to crane operations and welding. We own a fleet of barges, tugboats and cranes manned by experienced crews to facilitate waterway transport and access. Our commercial dive teams perform underwater inspection, maintenance and repair work with precision.

Vessel Engineering & Repair: The NSM Energy team has worked extensively with shipbuilders and owners to construct state-of-the-art commercial vessels and luxury yachts. We provide complete engineering design services and oversight during vessel construction. We also maintain full machine shops with certified welders and metal fabricators for vessel repair and renovations. 

Disaster Response: NSM Energy maintains a 24-hour rapid response hotline to support emergency maritime needs before, during and after major storms. We can quickly mobilize our equipment and personnel to assist with vessel recovery, waterway clearance, infrastructure assessments and temporary repairs until permanent restoration takes place. Our crews have successfully recovered hundreds of vessels stranded inland and cleared channels after recent hurricanes.

Sustainability & Compliance: NSM Energy stays at the forefront of evolving environmental regulations, building codes and resilience standards. We help clients identify sustainable construction materials and design strategies to reduce environmental impacts. We navigate the complex regulatory process to ensure timely permitting and compliance for maritime projects.
